Todd Sweaney’s journey reflects decades of learning, hands-on experience, and the continual refinement of architecture, construction, and custom homebuilding under one vision.
1984–1993
FOUNDATIONS IN ARCHITECTURE
Todd began his journey in architecture, developing an early understanding of design, planning, and the relationship between architectural vision and the construction process.
1991–1996
FROM DESIGN TO THE FIELD
Through construction management studies and hands-on field leadership, Todd gained practical experience in constructability, sequencing, project management, and the realities of bringing a design to life.
1992–2004
SWEANEY CUSTOM HOMES IS BORN
Todd founded Sweaney Construction, bringing his architectural and construction experience together under one roof. The company grew around a simple philosophy: thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and hands-on leadership.
2004–2012

A PHILOSOPHY THAT SHAPED SWEANEY
While studying architectural history, Todd became fascinated by Filippo Brunelleschi and the construction of the dome of Florence Cathedral—not simply because of the engineering achievements, but because of the role Brunelleschi represented.
The historic Master Builder didn’t operate within one isolated discipline. He understood the vision, coordinated the expertise, integrated how things were built, and remained accountable for the outcome.
That idea helped shape Todd’s philosophy and ultimately the operating principle Sweaney Custom Homes lives by: involve, align, protect the vision, deliver excellence, and remain accountable for the result.
